The Sunday Paper: Icon Run Pant

Releasing new products is always very exciting to me, as sometimes these products have been ready very far in advance, and to release it for public consumption is something I enjoy most about my job. I like to design products for life that can be used. And yes, I do design products that I like, but I also want the user to enjoy and love them just as much as I do. It’s like making a movie and just keeping it for yourself to watch.  Clothes are made to be worn, and I want my products to make you look good and feel good and solve a solution in your wardrobe that perhaps you can’t get elsewhere.

When designing the Icon Run Pant I wanted an extension and expansion of the Icon Run Short, which is one of my go-to everyday items that I personally wear. These pants were actually born from a football (soccer) pant, so in essence they are part run pant and part football pant. I almost even called them football pants but felt the run pant was more in alignment with the run shorts, and it just felt right. Like always, I obsessed over the fit and cut different iterations of it. First one was too skinny so I added some width, then it was too wide and didn’t sit right so it was back to the drawing board and shaved off a few millimeters. Designing is truly a game of millimeters, and one millimeter can make a huge difference. I always am keeping my eyes open to improve these 1 percenters, as I call them, even after release, but I try not to overdo on adjustments as well. But each new item or re-stock is an opportunity for improvement. So I hope you enjoy these pants just as much as I enjoyed designing them, and may they bring you success in your endeavors. At the end of the day it is just a pair of pants, but to me it’s more than that. I want them to make you feel good, look good and do good!
